SUNDANCER POPLAR  Populus × ‘Sundancer’
• A fast‑growing, upright hybrid poplar selected for improved form, stronger wood, and reduced suckering compared to older shelterbelt poplars. Forms a tall, narrow‑oval crown with a clean, uniform appearance.
• Noted for its excellent drought tolerance, vigorous growth, and strong performance in prairie soils, including clay and compacted sites.
• Produces no cotton, making it cleaner than cottonwood‑type hybrids.
• Suckering is moderate—less aggressive than aspen or balsam poplar, but still present, especially when roots are disturbed. In shelterbelts, this is an asset, helping fill gaps and maintain density; in residential yards, it requires monitoring.
• Best suited to acreages, farms, and large properties for fast growth and shelterbelt performance.
