Rose, Red Leaf

RED LEAF ROSE  Rosa glauca

• A striking, hardy shrub rose grown primarily for its unique foliage—a smoky blend of blue‑green, burgundy, and purple that stands out beautifully in any landscape. The foliage colour intensifies in cool weather, giving the plant a dramatic, almost ornamental‑shrub presence.
• Produces delicate single pink flowers with pale centers in early summer. While not large or showy like hybrid roses, they are charming, lightly fragrant, and highly attractive to bees and other pollinators.
• Followed by abundant bright red to orange hips that persist into winter, providing excellent wildlife food and ornamental value. Hips are edible and can be used for teas, jellies, and syrups.
• Extremely tough and low‑maintenance, thriving in poor soils, clay, and exposed prairie conditions. Very drought tolerant once established and far more disease‑resistant than most garden roses.
• Forms an upright, arching shrub with a naturally graceful habit; ideal for mixed borders, naturalized plantings, cottage gardens, and low‑care landscapes.
• Full Sun to Part Shade
• Zone 3, 1.5–2 m Height × 1.2–1.8 m Width
