URE PEAR Pyrus ‘Ure’
• A very hardy, productive pear hybrid cultivar resulting from a cross between Pyrus ussuriensis (Siberian pear) and Pyrus communis (European pear), highly valued for its cold hardiness and fire blight resistance. • Upright, rounded tree with strong branching and one of the most dependable fruiting pears for prairie orchards and home gardens.
• Abundant white blossoms in spring provide strong pollinator value; requires a compatible pear such as Golden Spice or Early Gold for best fruit set.
• Produces small to medium greenish‑yellow pears with firm, mildly sweet flesh ideal for fresh eating when fully ripe, as well as for canning and pickling; fruit drop is moderate and easy to manage.
• Exceptionally cold‑hardy and tolerant of drought, clay soils, and exposed prairie sites; shows good resistance to fire blight and maintains vigor with minimal pruning.
