CONSORT BLACK CURRANT Ribes nigrum ‘Consort’
• A hardy, productive deciduous shrub developed at the University of Saskatchewan, valued for its strong disease resistance—especially to white pine blister rust—and reliable yields.
• Produces clusters of fragrant, greenish‑white spring flowers that attract bees and other early pollinators.
• Bears abundant black berries in mid‑summer; edible and highly aromatic, excellent for jams, jellies, syrups, baking, and winemaking, with the classic bold black‑currant flavour.
• Thrives in well‑drained, moderately moist soils; prefers some shelter from hot afternoon sun but remains very cold‑hardy and dependable in prairie climates.
