DWARF BOG BIRCH Betula pumila
• A compact, cold‑hardy deciduous shrub native to boreal wetlands and fens across the Canadian Prairies, forming dense thickets of rounded, glossy, finely toothed leaves that turn warm yellow in fall.
• Produces small catkins in spring that support early pollinators; tiny nutlets follow but are not edible for humans.
• Thrives in moist to wet soils, including peat, clay, and organic muck, yet is surprisingly tolerant of periodic dryness once established; ideal for naturalized plantings, riparian edges, and ecological restoration.
• Full Sun to Part Shade
• Zone 2, 1–2 m Height × 1–2 m Width
