COMMON CARAGANA  Caragana arborescens
• A tough, fast‑growing deciduous shrub native to Siberia and widely planted across the Prairies for shelterbelts, hedging, and wind protection; forms an upright, vase‑shaped structure with fine, compound leaves.
• Produces abundant yellow pea‑like flowers in late spring that provide an early nectar source for bees; flowers are showy and reliably produced each year.
• Extremely hardy and drought tolerant, thriving in poor, sandy, alkaline, or compacted soils; highly valued for its ability to withstand wind, cold, and exposed prairie conditions.
• Very low maintenance and long‑lived, with excellent resistance to browsing and environmental stress; can be pruned to maintain a hedge or left natural for a more open form.
• Full Sun
• Zone 2, 3–5 m Height × 3–5 m Width
