BALSAM FIR  Abies balsamea

• A classic North American evergreen with a narrow, pyramidal form and dense, aromatic foliage; widely valued for its soft, flat needles and naturally symmetrical shape.
• Needles are deep green with silvery undersides, releasing a distinctive resinous fragrance when crushed—one of the most recognizable scents of boreal forests.
• Produces upright, resin‑coated cones that mature from purple to brown; cones disintegrate on the tree, adding subtle seasonal interest without littering the ground.
